Damien Ministries/Hunger Sunday
You may have noticed that on the first Sunday of the month, there is a food basket at the altar as a symbol of the blessings that we have received and the opportunity we have to assist with alleviating hunger in our community. There is no food served during coffee hour at this time to remember those who are struggling to provide food for themselves and their families.
What does Trinity Do?
On the first Sunday of each month, Trinity collects non-perishable food items on behalf of the Damien Ministries Food Bank in northeast Washington. This group reaches out to people living with HIV and AIDS whose needs are not met by other social service agencies.
What Can I Do?
Drop off your donation in the Social Hall near the greeter's stand at the front entry at any time on Hunger Sunday morning. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated as well. Some suggested items are: pasta, peanut butter, canned fruit and meats, canned juices, powdered milk, rice, tuna, boxed main dishes, nutritional beverages, soups, flour, and sugar.
Who Should I Contact?
Please contact Susan Dodd for further information, or contact the Damien Ministries directly: P.O. Box 10202, Washington, DC 20018. The phone number is (202)526-3188.
