DESCRIPTION:Since the seventh century\, September 1 has symbolized the day
of the creation of the world in the Byzantine tradition. On September 6\,
we formally adopt and celebrate the Feast of Creation in Christ as a new f
estival in the common lectionary cycle. It is adopted by both Eastern and
Westerns churches\, the first time a new common festival shared across Eas
t and West has occurred in over a thousand years! \nThe inauguration of t
his festival occurs as we face humanity's greatest moment of ecological pe
ril and as the earth faces its sixth mass extinction event. It is the firs
t mass extinction caused by a single species. \nThe image attached to thi
