From the Pastor …

Dear People of God,

Grace can be hard.

In the gospel on Sunday, we will hear Jesus challenge us about what we are going to do in response to the good news. His words are clear, direct, and emphatic.

For my part I’ve been thinking this week just how we will hear this gospel when we gather? Most of us don’t like to be challenged, much less by Jesus! But challenged we will be.

Some come to worship prepared on Sunday. The news is good!, full of God’s grace and love, but, as we shall here, also challenging.

Blessings,
Pr Kern

February Food Drive
FINAL SUNDAY!

This Sunday, February 24, is the last Sunday to bring in donations for the food drive for Bethesda Help. We still need MANY donations of all items to reach our goal of 75 bags. Don’t have time to shop? A financial donation can be made in your offering and the Social Ministry Committee will do the shopping!

Annual Cook-Off

A tradition of food, fellowship & fun competition. Join us this Sunday, February 24, after the late service for a Meatball & Bar Cookie Cook-Off.  Who will be this year’s Trinity Top Chefs? Entries welcome from everyone, the more the yummier the competition! 2019 categories are meatballs (or vegetarian) and bar cookies. Free-will eating and voting. Funds raised support Trinity’s youth mission trip (75%) and Manna Food Bank (25%).

The Kingdom of God and the Church

Join Pastor Kern on Sunday mornings in February at 9:30 in Room 11 for The Kingdom of God and the Church: what’s the difference?  We’ll take a lighthearted look at such topics as, + church origins + Trinity’s own history + church authority + church decision-making.  Through these discussions we will hope to gain a renewed appreciation for our congregation and the church in the world.  All are welcome!

Coffee Hour Potluck Sunday

Sunday, March 3, and the first Sunday of each month, will be potluck coffee hour. If your last name begins with letters A-L, please bring in a coffee hour item to share. (last names A-L odd months, M-Z even months). We still need hosts for these Sundays as well as hosts for all our coffee hours. Sign up on the schedule on the coffee hour table or contact Lynn B.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

March 5, 6:00 p.m.

Bring your family and friends to Trinity’s annual “Fat Tuesday” dinner of pancakes, sausage, and fried apples. It is our last meal of abundance before Lent and Ash Wednesday. Leave full and ready to take up the cross as our Lenten journey begins.

Home cooks and clean-up helpers are needed. If you can help prepare apples at home, or help clear tables or cleanup during and after the Pancake Supper, please sign up or call Steve S.

Reservations are not required, but we need a general idea of how many to expect. Please sign up by using the form in your newsletter or on the sheets posted in the Social Hall.

A Free-will offering to cover costs will be collected at the supper.

In Transition …

As part of the transition process, Pastor Kern is having one-on-one conversation with Council members and members of the congregation.  If you would like an appointment to talk with Pastor Kern, please use the sign-up sheet on the podium in the social hall or contact the church office.  This is your opportunity to share what you think and feel about your congregation – what you love, what concerns you, your hopes, etc.
