Trinity Tidings April 8, 2021

From Pastor Christine

If you have been following along weekly in the Tidings, you know that we’ve been exploring worshipping options for the upcoming weeks. I wanted to take a few moments to share where we are right now (as we all know, regulations and health conditions can change quickly and alter plans in either direction).

Beginning May 2, we will offer two worship options. We will still offer our YouTube recorded service, which will include: music, full sermon, children’s message, and Holy Communion in extraordinary circumstances. We will be adding an in-person, outdoor service on Sundays at 10am (signup is necessary).

We hope to continue this plan through the summer, with the hopes of implementing live-stream capabilities, so that we can have indoor worship services when it is safe to do so.

We will also be offering a very special worship service for the weekend of April 25th, which will focus on the gifts of God’s creation. Lutherans Restoring Creation are experts in the areas of creation care, and they have developed a worship service especially focused on this area. We are excited to share this worship experience with you.

We know the times of flux are difficult. We thank you for all the ways you support Trinity and care for one another. In this season of Easter, we look for signs of new life and lean into the resurrection as a place of strength and assurance.

Deep peace and joy,

Pastor Christine

Traffic Alert!

Construction at the corner of Old Georgetown Rd and Executive Blvd has created a long term road closure at that intersection. If you are approaching Trinity southbound on Rockville Pike, or westbound on Randolph Rd, please follow the Detour signs and turn right on Nicholson Lane and left on Old Georgetown Rd to reach Trinity. HERE is a map of the detour from Montgomery County.

Weekly Music Meditation

For this Easter season, our music meditations will be a bit different. Every week, Angela will sing a different hymn from our new hymnal supplement All Creation Sings. This week’s hymn is “Faith Begins By Letting Go” (ACS #1004). The hymn text is HERE. The video is HERE.

Save the Date!

Join us for Worship this Sunday!

The Easter season is a week of weeks, seven Sundays when we play in the mystery of Christ’s presence, mostly through the glorious Gospel of John. Today we gather with the disciples on the first Easter, and Jesus breathes the Spirit on us. With Thomas we ask for a sign, and Jesus offers us his wounded self in the broken bread. From frightened individuals we are transformed into a community of open doors, peace, forgiveness, and material sharing such that no one among us is in need.

Lenten Benevolence will be directed this year to the ELCA Disaster Response Fund; thanks to the generosity of Trinity members and friends, over $2,100 was donated. HERE  is the link to Lutheran Disaster Response if you would like to give directly.

Virtual Services, along with Music Meditations and Faith Formation videos are broadcast on YouTube each week at

Birthday Cake Kit Service Project
As part of our installation celebration and in continuing to spread joy, Trinity will be assembling birthday cake kits for Living Faith’s pantry. We are asking for your help to provide a box of cake mix, a tub of frosting, and a pack of 24 regular birthday candles. The rest of the items will be provided by Trinity. Our goal is 90 kits. Please bring your donations to Trinity by Saturday, April 17th (during the food drive 9am to noon).
Please keep them separate from other food items that you will be donating to Living Faith as a group will be gathering later to assemble the birthday kits. If you have any questions, please contact Valerie at

Thank you for your offerings. First Quarter giving statements were emailed on April 6. If you did not receive yours, please check your Junk Mail for a message from or write Carol B at this address to have it mailed to you. At present, we support donations through PayPal. We are currently exploring our options to provide you multiple options for online giving. See details HERE.
