Trinity Tidings | December 2, 2021

Advent is about the “coming days.” God’s people have always lived in great expectation, but that expectation finds Forerunners and messengers advance the advent of our God. While John the baptizer’s voice in the wilderness may be the principal focus of the day, Malachi’s prophecy could as easily herald the coming Christ as forerunner of the LORD of hosts. Finally all the baptized are called to participate in the sharing of the gospel. In so doing we prepare the way for the coming of Jesus and assist all people in capturing a vision of the “salvation of God.”

Chrismons for Social Hall Tree
If you have a completed painted wooden ornament or colored bead kit for the tree that goes in the social hall, please bring them by Trinity as soon as possible, either during office hours or this weekend.

As many know, Catherine Kapikian served for many years on the faculty of Wesleyan Theological Seminary and founded the Henry Luce Center for the Arts and Religion. Her artistic works and her theological insight is sought after for its depth of meaning, its intrigue, and its beauty. Most recently she created a mural for the refectory of Weleyanm where she re-imagines da Vinaic’s Last Supper. This work was recently unveiled (delayed due to COVID) and you can view it here (along with an interview with Cathy).

Dreams Needed! Video or Written Format! Where, what do you dream Trinity to be 3 years from now?…That is the question we’re asking you, members, friends, and family of Trinity. Over the next couple of weeks or so, answers to this question will be collected and compiled into a short montage video. There are 2 ways of getting your dreams in…Sunday mornings at church I or another member will be happy to do a quick video recording of the dream you’d like to share. Or, you may do your own recording on your cell phone or other device. Please keep your answers to 20 seconds or so.

Alternatively, share your dream in a single written sentence. Please use the provided email for sharing your dreams in either format. If you have any questions, please contact me, Valerie M at Thank you!

Community Family Life Services’ Annual Give-a-Gift Program | Sundays, November 14 – December 5
The holiday season, a time of giving and sharing, is coming upon us! Community Family Life Services (CFLS) in Washington, DC, provides services to reentry women, survivors of domestic violence, homeless residents, and their children. Trinity has a wonderful opportunity to help brighten this holiday season for the families served by CFLS. Trinity is collecting new gifts, toys, games, books, and clothes for children infant through 18 years old. Some gift suggestions: Visa or Walmart gift cards, board games, coloring/art supplies, and teen pocketbooks/purses. Gifts should be new and in their original packaging, but not wrapped.

Gifts of Hope Catalog Available Online
Operating for 28 years, Gifts of Hope has raised and disbursed almost $4 million to two church camps, four ministries, three international companion synods, and ten local social service agencies affiliated with the Synod. These funds have helped the homeless, the hungry, the young, the elderly, immigrants, refugees, jobseekers, seminary and college students, and those seeking to improve their lives.
Instead of visiting tables in church buildings in November and December, individuals can support GOH through the current catalog on the Gifts of Hope website: or by mail (an order form is included in the catalog). Gifts of Hope wanted to continue to honor the health of the volunteers and donors, even if congregations return to on-site worship this year.

Trinity “Adopts” a Family for the Holidays.
Trinity is participating in A Wider Circle’s Good Karma Holiday Program providing holiday gifts to families in need. Trinity has been matched with a family of 5. Each family member has provided some wishes that we hope members of Trinity will help fulfill.
Please sign up using the following link: Gifts need to be dropped off to Trinity by Sunday, December 12.  If you have any questions, please contact Margaret F at
