From Pastor Kern
Dear People of God,
If you need anyone to give you permission, I hereby grant each and every one of you permission to do a happy dance at the Call extended to Pastor Christine Dunn, your soon to be pastor.
All the work, all the waiting, all the planning, all the struggle now yields to this moment of joy for her and for you. May God grant you a good season to walk and grow together.
Before I go I want to express my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to five people who have been so important to me in my time as your transition pastor. Kathy Boone – Trinity sexton and wonderful colleague who makes everything look so good (and many times, run so well) at Trinity. Brian Briggs – former admin who offered me deep theological discourse many afternoons when he should have left for home. Carol Bruno – interim admin, and resident keeper of all knowledge relative to Trinity. Always thinking ahead, always thinking of others. And doing countless “little” things behind the scenes that make church so much better. Angela Small – minister of music, and one of the most enthusiastic church musicians you will ever find. You would look far and wide to find someone with her particular basket of skills – worship, music, technology, physics! And, of course, Anita Smallin, pretty much the center of the Trinity wheel. Not much happens at Trinity that sooner or later doesn’t cross her lane – and she never says No to serving Trinity. Anita was a godsend to me in the opening months and I am forever grateful to call her friend. We bonded over brisket, Diet Coke, and Dr pepper, with trail mix for dessert!
I have no doubt that Pastor Christine will experience these saints as I have, as we all have. They will love and support her just as they did me. To these five I say, it was a privilege to labor in the vineyard of Trinity by your side. Thank you.
Wishing everyone the very best,
Welcome Pastor Christine!

Watch, Wait, Wonder, Worship
Wednesdays in Advent, 7 pm
During this season of Advent, we invite you to join us for a live, Zoom midweek worship Wednesday December 23 at 7 pm. Our theme will be shared by many congregations across the ELCA, reminding us that even in this time of pandemic we remain a connected church. These are quiet, meditative services with intentional spaces of silence, readings, and song. To facilitate your participation, we invite you to save this Zoom link (it will be the same for each Wednesday) and to print or download the pages which will serve as your worship folder each week. With the Church of every time and place we pray, Come, Lord Jesus.

Blue Christmas Service
Trinity’s Stephen Ministry Program is leading a Blue Christmas Service on Trinity’s YouTube channel (https://bit.ly/3eHOnsK) beginning December 20th. The Advent season can be a difficult time for anyone who has had a loved one pass away or another sad event happen, while the rest of the world is celebrating the season. This year’s sadness is compounded by the Pandemic, in which COVID 19 has caused over 303,000 deaths in our country alone and has forced us to adapt to an ever-changing environment. Blue Christmas is an annual service at Trinity that allows time to listen, reflect, sing, and pray for hope and healing, so that people feel that they are not alone in their grief. Please join us December 20 to view Blue Christmas in the comfort of your home, light a candle to honor the person, persons, or situation of suffering or grief, and know that Jesus is with you always.

Social Ministry Advent/Christmas Edition
The next Living Faith Food Drive will be THIS SATURDAY, December 19, from 9am to 12 noon in the main parking lot. The demand for food assistance remains very high at the Living Faith pantry in Rockville. Their numbers continue to grow as the pandemic goes on — they have served 70 families in a single week. Recently the pantry has decided to keep its focus on food items only and suspend distribution of personal care items to insure that no one goes hungry.
More info: Kathy at 301-675-6987 or email email@example.com
Please consider a generous donation this holiday season to help local families! You may send a check directly to Living Faith Lutheran Church (1605 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, MD 20851) Please note ‘food pantry’ in the memo line.
Reverse Advent Calendar and Devotions
As a reverse Advent discipline, we are collecting items for the pantry at Living Faith. A full explanation is in the December Trinitarian, including the master list of daily items. Make this discipline work as you need. If you have any questions, please contact Valerie M at firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you for supporting the pantry.
Also, come pick up your 2021 offering envelopes from Sarah M during the Food Drive.
Pictures for the New Pastor
Dear Trinity family,
Unlike times in the past, when a new pastor could visit us in our homes and after Sunday services to get to know each of better, this won’t happen for a while. So, in an effort to assist Pastor Christine to get acquainted each of us, the Worship and Music Team would like to put together an album that would highlight each member. We would like everyone to submit a photo of themselves and/or their family (how about those Christmas photos we’re gathering for cards!) plus a short paragraph about yourself and your family. When this is ready, please use the dropbox address HERE to submit it to the church office. Deadline is mid-January. Any questions, call Nancy N or email the church office.
2021 Stewardship Campaign is Underway
Thank you to 38 giving units who have pledged to date $223,976 to support Trinity’s mission in 2021. Please contact the church office (email@example.com) if you did not receive a pledge card, and it will be mailed to you. Please return your completed card by mail, to the secure mailbox at the office entrance, or emailed to Carol B, Financial Secretary (firstname.lastname@example.org).
2021 Offering Envelopes are ready to be distributed
To help us save on postage, please consider stopping by the church to pick yours up. Starting Saturday, the envelopes will be in the Social Hall. (If you have a key and come after office hours, please check your name off the list to let us know they’ve been taken.)
Thank you for your offering. Your gifts make the ministry of Trinity possible. Electronic giving may be available through your bank or financial institution. Offerings mailed to the church office will be promptly deposited.
Remember in your prayers
