Trinity Tidings | December 23, 2021

On December 28 the church commemorates The Holy Innocents, Martyrs. Honoring the birth of Jesus often brings great joy. As we follow the days of the Christmas season to the Day of Epiphany, we are overcome with the blessings that Jesus’ birth unfolded for all of creation. For many, the sparkle of our celebrations prevents us from noticing how Christ’s birth threatens the prevailing powers. God’s intention to be sovereign through vulnerability is regularly challenged by those who value only their own goals and seek to protect them by shutting out helpless others, thereby drowning out the call of the One whose perfect love redeemed our innocence.

Our 2022 Stewardship Packets, containing pledge cards and Time and Talent sheets, were mailed out, with the theme This is OUR Community. Please prayerfully consider supporting Trinity with your Time, Talent, and Treasure over the coming year. The Time and Talent sheet is especially important to complete, as our office, music, and pastoral staff are all new in the past two years. Please help them by filling this out! As of Sunday, December 19, we have received 41 pledges in the amount of $245,687 to the General Fund in 2022. The Handbell Choir has several items on the table in the social hall which would make great “very last minute” Christmas gifts.  There is a CD of our handbell choir playing Christmas music, which was compiled from several live concerts they presented at Glenview Mansion, handmade notecards, and wooden handbell magnets.  See the posters for the requested donation for each item, which can be put in the music covered box.  All donations will go toward supporting our handbell program.

As of Sunday, Dec. 19, you have surpassed the goal of $23,500 to pay off our BTAB 2 mortgage. Trinity made it to the finish line and then some!  Our BTAB 2 Thermometer in the Social Hall is showing the mercury spewing from the top!  Thank you one and all for answering the call to close out this mortgage. As mentioned at the Congregational Meeting on Dec. 12, we plan to hold a celebration in the New Year, when it is warmer outside and we can celebrate together.  Again, thank you to everyone who made this possible with your tremendous generosity!

THANK YOU from Chelsea and Barrett:
We would love to thank everyone who stopped by with meals and kept us in their prayers over the last few weeks.  We are unbelievably blessed to be a part of such a supportive church family.  Lily is very lucky to be surrounded by so much love!

The Funeral for Mary Hartzell will be held at Trinity on December 27th at 1pm. Masks are necessary. For those who would like to attend, but are uncomfortable or unable to be in-person, the service will also be live streamed here.

Do you have good, high(er) resolution photos that could be used to update our website? We’d love to see them. Please email any photos to Sarah M. at: Also, please only send photos that you would be comfortable with having on the internet.

To Accommodate Those who Wish to Donate to our AV Efforts, we have recently established a livestream/AV special fund.
