Trinity Tidings | October 21, 2021

Can we pray the way Bartimaeus prays? People try to hush him up because by addressing Jesus as “Son of David” he is making a politically dangerous claim that Jesus is the rightful king. Could our prayers ever be heard as a threat to unjust powers that be? Bartimaeus won’t give up or go away quietly, but repeats his call for help more loudly. Do we ask so boldly? And are our prayers an honest answer to Jesus’ question, “What do you want me to do for you?”.

We will be meeting outside through the month of October. We will reassess the location during the month of October, and Sunday School will continue after October. Scam Alert
Area congregations are being targeted as a part of a fraud effort. Emails are circulating that seem to be either from Pastor Christine, or from someone who claims to have talked to Pastor Christine. Do NOT send money, gift cards, or even respond to the emails. They are very cunning in their attempts. Pastor Christine will never ask you for money or gift cards via email. If in doubt, please open a separate email and contact her directly or call the office. You can ‘inspect’ email addresses. Often upon doing this, you’ll note that it is not the same address that Trinity uses or Pastor Christine uses.

Our Director of Youth and Family Ministries, Anita S. will be on Sabbatical October 13- November 23
From Anita: Now that Trinity has a new pastor, a new admin, & live streaming is up and running, I have been granted mini sabbatical, which incorporates vacation time not used due to the pandemic. I will be out of the office for 40 days, October 13 – November 22.  I will not be looking at email, nor returning phone calls or texts until I return. The ELCA recognizes that ministers are strengthened by opportunities to step away from the daily obligations of parish life, and have a moment of renewal. I will be using this time to recharge, so I am able to service Trinity to the fullest of my capabilities. During my absence, contact Pastor Christine, Amanda, or Jerry B.

There is an antique desk in our handbell storage room which needs to find a good home.  If interested, please contact Marilyn Converse for more details.

If you need ideas for decorating your car, there are many good ideas online. Be creative! Feel free to invite and bring friends!

During the rising periods, we will engage in conversations around relevant scripture passages. The morning will conclude with a light lunch of bread and soup. An RSVP is a must and limited to 12 so we can spread out in the social hall. Please see the sign-up link for details about what to bring. No experience needed, all ingredients will be provided. If you have any questions, please contact Valerie at

Chrismon Making Session | Nov 13 | 10:30 am
Trinity began its Chrismon tree journey in the fall of 2019. We held three Chrismon making sessions, and in addition Trinity family members made these “ornaments of Christ” at home, and we celebrated the Advent and Christmas season with our new Chrismon tree. We would like to resume our Chrismon making sessions in 2021. With precautions in place, we invite Trinity family members and friends to join this year’s Chrismon making session on November 13 at 10:30 am. For Trinity family members not able to join in person, we can make kits available to complete at home.

Please look for the green cloth in the Social Hall that will be displaying Chrismons made by Trinity, along with the book that tracks the contributors for supplies and a page for each Chrismon on our tree. Please contact Angela Brown, Carol Bruno, Leslie Cradlin, Valerie Mayer, or Sabrina Rufty with any questions and to reserve your space at the class.
