Wednesday Music Meditation Sept. 16, 2020

Hello Trinity Family,

This upcoming Sunday’s sermon will be a tough one. We hear a parable about laborers working in a vineyard. Throughout the day, the landowner finds people standing idly in his field, and he puts them to work. At the end of the day, some people have been working since dawn and others for only an hour. However, the landowner pays them all the same wage. In my life, I’ve always tried to be the person at the vineyard by sunrise. My career has involved planning far ahead making strategic educational and financial decisions, so this Gospel reading as always proved difficult for me. However, this year, everything has been turned on its head. I’ve gone from performing live to producing videos, from coffee hours to Zoom socials, and from accompaniment to recordings. Frankly, when I heard the parable again this year, my first thought was “Thank God I made it to the vineyard before sunset!”
Today’s offering is “I’m Gonna Sing/Ain’t-a That Good News?” arranged by Larry Shackley. I love how this hymn encourages us that God appreciates all the work that we do, regardless of our difficult circumstances. The link to the video is HERE.

Here is the hymn text for your reflection:
I’ve a crown up in the Kingdom
Ain’t that good news
I’ve a crown up in the Kingdom
Ain’t that good news
I’m going to lay down this world
Going to shoulder up my cross
Goin’ to take it home to Jesus
Ain’t that good news

Blessings,
Angela
