Native plants protect people and wildlife because they are suited to the soil and weather (e.g. rainfall) of (Maryland/DC). They provide food and homes for local wildlife and help the soil to filter water which protects our local streams from pollution and flooding.
National Wildlife Federation Sacred Grounds partners include Interfaith Power and Light & Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake. Growing Joy is funded by: Chesapeake Bay Trust’s Clean Water Montgomery Grant Program, Prince George’s County Stormwater Stewardship Grants Program, the District of Columbia Stormwater Enterprise Fund, and the District of Columbia Anacostia River Clean Up and Protection Fund.
